We would like to thank the Mayor, City Council, and especially Councilor Nancy McFarlane for their support. The vote was 7-1 in favor of the rezoning. GREAT NEWS and Updates on Regency Centers’ Project with Whole Foods in North Raleigh!
Regency’s Whole Foods project to build cutting edge stormwater management system
Regency Centers’ proposed Whole Foods anchored project, The Market at Colonnade, was selected last week by the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund to build a cutting edge stormwater management system. Unlike many conventional stormwater management approaches, the Colonnade project will retain and infiltrate an excess of 50% of the generated site stormwater volume into the underlying soils. This project is the first of its kind in the City of Raleigh. For additional information on their stormwater efforts click here.
Grassroots support continues efforts to rezone The Market at Colonnade
We want to THANK all those who showed their support of rezoning petition Z-44-08 by attending the Planning Commission meeting on February 3, 2009. The meeting was positive, and Regency Centers continues to show their effort to bring a quality development to North Raleigh.
• NOW is the time to show your support by emailing or faxing a letter to your City Council Members (919- 996-7622). Click here to send an email to your Elected Officials. If you have sent one letter, please send another today!
• The next important public meeting that your attendance is greatly needed is the City Council on Tuesday, March 17 @ 1:00 PM. It will be held at the City Council Chambers, 222 W. Hargett St in the Avery C. Upchurch Municipal Building. Click here for directions and parking instructions.
• Pass along this information to all your friends, neighbors, and fellow Whole Foods supporters! Click here to refer your friends.
This project will not be possible without support from those who want to see this project succeed. Don’t risk letting a vocal minority take away our right to have a Whole Foods in our neighborhood. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you and your friends on March 17th!
Sincerely, The Grassroots Committee

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It has been a while since you have received an update on the proposed Whole Foods in North Raleigh. We want to let you know that things are still on track, but they are taking longer than anticipated as the developer, Regency Centers, works through the zoning process.
In order to get the property rezoned for retail use, the project has to go before the Planning Commission and the City Council. The next step in the process is for Regency to appear before a Planning Commission on February 3rd. If that is successful, the project will go to the full Planning Commission on February 10th and then on to the City Council on February 17th. If you need directions and parking information click here. For meeting details click here.
Some of the delay is due to a vocal minority of neighbors who continue to actively oppose this project, so your continued support is extremely important. We won’t be successful without you.
What can we do?
Please let the Planning Commission and City Council know if you believe rezoning this property for use by Whole Foods is “reasonable and in the public interest.” As committee members we not only believe it is “reasonable and in the public interest,” we don’t know why anyone would oppose a new project like this in North Raleigh.
• Write a letter of support to, or call members of the Planning Commission and the City Council. We want them to hear that we continue to support the rezoning for this project. Click on the “CONTACT MY ELECTED OFFICIAL” button and write our representatives a quick message.
• Please join us at the committee meeting on February 3rd. Opponents have been diligent in attending and voicing their concerns. We need to make sure the support of our more than 2,000 supporters is being heard.
• If you haven’t already done so, please sign the petition showing your support for this project.
Again, thank you for your continued support of this petition. Feel free to e-mail us at info@bringwholefoods.org with any questions or comments.
Best Regards,
Bring Whole Foods Grassroots Committee
